The conversations at the World Geothermal Congress 2026 in Calgary reflected a clear shift in the industry’s priorities. While technical innovation remained an important focus, the overarching message was that geothermal energy has moved beyond demonstrating its potential. The emphasis is now on accelerating project delivery, improving access to financing, strengthening communication with stakeholders, and deploying geothermal solutions on a much larger scale.
This transition was reinforced by several major announcements made during the congress, including funding for Canada’s Deep Geothermal Roadmap, the launch of a pilot Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) project by SLB and Ormat, new funding for superhot rock drilling initiatives in New Zealand, and the introduction of a new 100 MW binary power unit designed specifically for EGS applications.
From next-generation Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) and superhot rock technologies to district heating, direct-use applications, policy development, Indigenous community engagement, and investment, WGC 2026 highlighted an industry that is becoming increasingly mature, confident, and focused on delivering geothermal energy at scale.
We participated as an exhibitor at the World Geothermal Congress 2026, where we showcased our projects and activities at our own exhibition booth. The congress provided an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and connect with leading experts and partners from the global geothermal sector.
